Our Ethos
A solid foundation
/* OUR ETHOS */
Substrate is a boutique software consulting, training and development firm established in Israel in 2021 with a simple premise: we provide eminently reliable, honest and valuable software services. We conduct ourselves with integrity, professionalism and transparency, and we measure ourselves against the only KPI that matters in this space: customer satisfaction and retention.

About the principal
A programming junkie and computer history aficionado, Tomer's been an avid software professional for two decades. Previously plying his trade building and operating software systems at companies like Wix, Sears and WeWork, Tomer has been heavily involved in the local and global software communities as a regular speaker at international software conferences, as well as co-founder of two major Israeli user groups (Java.IL and Underscore) and a conference (Scalapeño).
Our Core Values
Put simply, we care about our customers: when they succeed, we succeed. A good relationship has to feel like a win-win; consequently, we are guided by two core principles:
Care
We will not, under any circumstances, screw our customers over
We will, under all circumstances, strive to make our customers happy
Our word is our bond. Substrate will live and die on its reputation: trust is hard to earn and all too easy to break. We are therefore beholden to the following principles:
Integrity
We will always be truthful in our dealings. Our customers rely on what we say as much as what we do, and they need to know they can count on us to follow through on our promises.
We will never knowingly falsify, misdirect or mislead our customers, partners, vendors or other interested parties.
We take immense pride in the quality of our work. We sweat the little details and we find nothing more satisfying than a simple, elegant solution to a gnarly problem. We set ourselves an exceedingly high standard in everything we do, because:
Craftsmanship
Quality matters, inside and out.
Simplicity is a virtue.
There is always something to learn.
